straight bevel gears allow rotary motion transmission between perpendicular axes. In general, the application is less demanding respect to the helical bevel gears. So, tooth construction is “simpler”, or at least it’s a “less complicated geometry”. But every tooth still needs to be created with a precise production process to reach high quality level. In general, those gears produce more noise, due to the teeth contact, but they are cheaper and higher noise can be lowered with a correct lubrication and case design.
